Vijayawada Draft Electoral Rolls Released For 86 Wards

The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has released draft photo electoral rolls for all 86 wards ahead of the municipal elections and directed officials to display them for public scrutiny.

VMC commissioner Dhyanachandra H.M. directed that the lists be displayed at the VMC headquarters, zonal offices, the collectorate, the district revenue officer’s office and tahsildar offices. Citizens have been urged to verify their names, addresses and other details.

Officials said the exercise included identification of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Backward Class and women voters as mandated by the government. As per G.O.Rt.No.1165 dated September 21, 2026, a door-to-door survey will be conducted from September 23 to 25 to identify voters in these categories.

The schedule provides for publication of draft lists on September 26, receipt of claims and objections on September 27 and 28, verification and field checks on September 29 and 30, and publication of final rolls on October 1.

VMC deputy commissioner (revenue) G. Srujana, along with zonal commissioners, conducted a training programme for Booth Level Volunteers (BLVs) and revenue staff in Vijayawada.

Srujana said the survey must be carried out meticulously in line with Election Commission directives. She instructed BLVs to cross-check voter details with the electoral rolls to avoid discrepancies and record the information accurately.

The training focused on coordination between BLVs and revenue staff to complete the identification process within the stipulated timeframe.

Zonal commissioners Srinivas, Prabhudas and Shammi, assistant commissioners A.U.B. Sharma, Helen and Prabhavati, school supervisors, revenue officers and BLVs participated in the programme.
