Video of Devotee Smoking on Alipiri Invites TTD Action
The TTD warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone violating its regulations
NELLORE: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has decided to take strict action against a person after a video surfaced online showing him smoking cigarettes while walking along the Alipiri footpath to Tirumala.
In a statement on Sunday, the TTD said it would lodge a complaint with the police against the individual for violating the rules and regulations in force on the footpath.
Consumption of alcohol, smoking and the use of intoxicating substances are strictly prohibited at Tirumala, Alipiri, Srivari Mettu and other TTD premises. Despite the restrictions, the devotee allegedly smoked while walking on the footpath, which the TTD termed a deplorable act that hurt the sentiments of fellow devotees.
The TTD warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone violating its regulations. It also said disciplinary action would be initiated against security personnel found negligent while carrying out inspections.
