Victims of Spurious Liquor at Peace After Midhun’s Arrest: Anantapur MLA
According to the MLA, the families of the victims now feel a sense of relief and justice following the arrest of Mithun Reddy.
Kurnool: Anantapur Urban MLA Daggubati Prasad has said that the souls of those who lost their lives due to spurious liquor in the past five years have finally found peace with the arrest of YSRCP MP P. Mithun Reddy.
He made the remarks during the “Suparipālanālō Tholi Adugu” programme held in the 18th Division in Anantapur on Sunday.
The MLA alleged that many innocent lives were lost during the YSRCP regime due to the unchecked sale of adulterated liquor and blamed the party's leaders for the tragedy.
“The YSRCP leadership turned a blind eye to the rampant flow of harmful liquor, which led to hundreds of preventable deaths. Now, those responsible are being brought to justice one by one,” he said.
He accused the previous regime’s leaders of being indifferent to the plight of affected families, saying many women were widowed and left in despair due to the actions of those who allegedly promoted the illicit liquor trade.
According to the MLA, the families of the victims now feel a sense of relief and justice following the arrest of Mithun Reddy. He also noted that the affected families are demanding justice and compensation from the illicit wealth amassed by corrupt leaders.
He emphasised that the government is committed to ensuring that looted public funds are recovered and directed towards helping the families devastated by the previous administration’s failures.
MLA Prasad reiterated that the current government will not tolerate corruption and will continue to take strict action against those who endangered the lives of the poor.
