Urban Transformation Drive: AP to Showcase Waste Management at IFAT India 2026

Vijayawada:Andhra Pradesh would highlight its pioneering initiatives in urban transformation and waste management at the IFAT (International Trade Fair for Environmental Technologies) India 2026 conference from September 9 to 11 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai.
Principal secretary to state government, S Suresh Kumar, will attend the three-day event and present the state’s achievements in municipal governance reforms, sanitation, solid waste management, sustainable urban service delivery, and capacity building across urban local bodies.
The IFAT meet is regarded as a leading platform for environmental solutions. It would focus on strengthening the country’s waste management and urban sustainability ecosystem.
Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a frontrunner in advancing circular economy practices under the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0. The monthly Swarna Andhra – Swachha Andhra campaign, launched in January 2025, has brought perceptible behavioural changes among citizens in waste segregation and disposal, an official release noted.
It said, “AP’s innovations in sustainable infrastructure, municipal governance and scientific waste management will be showcased to policymakers, industry leaders, technology providers, investors, and development partners. The conference will also facilitate exchange of best practices, innovative approaches, and inter-state collaboration in urban service delivery.”
The Union housing and urban affairs ministry is organising a special session titled Urban Sanitation Beyond 2027: Emerging Priorities for India’s Next Decade.
Swachha Andhra Corporation managing director Sunil Kumar Reddy along with officials from select ULBs of Andhra Pradesh would participate in the deliberations.
