TTD To Celebrate Gokulashtami At SV Samrakshanasala

TIRUPATI: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to organise Gokulashtami celebrations in a grand manner on August 16 at the Sri Venkateswara Go Samrakshanasala in Tirupati. Gokulashtami, observed as the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna will feature Go puja, cultural performances and devotional activities.

The Go Samrakshanasala will be decorated to resemble Sri Krishna’s Gokulam, with pandals, mango-leaf festoons, floral arrangements and ornamental rangoli designs. The cattle at the facility will be adorned for the occasion. Devotees visiting the Go Samrakshanasala will have the opportunity to feed jaggery, rice and fodder directly to the cows.

The day’s schedule will begin with flute recitals and Vedic chanting by students of the Tirumala Veda Patashala from 5 a.m. to 10.30 a.m., followed by bhajans and kolatams by artistes from TTD’s Dasa Sahitya Project. From 10.30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Go puja and Harati will be performed to Sri Venugopala Swamy. Cultural programmes, darshan of Sri Venugopala Swamy and prasadam distribution will follow. In the evening, the TTD Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad will host a Harikatha programme.
