Tobacco Purchase Set for May 15–30: Joint Collector B. Navya
Dr Navya announced that a follow-up meeting will be held with the tobacco company representatives to ensure the complete and fair purchase of tobacco grown in the district at reasonable prices.
Kurnool: District joint collector Dr B. Navya has directed tobacco companies to purchase tobacco between May 15 and 30. She held a meeting with company representatives and district officials at the collectorate on Monday to discuss the tobacco purchase process.
During the meeting, she addressed concerns from farmers about the reduced purchase prices of tobacco and urged companies to offer better rates. She instructed the representatives of tobacco companies to ensure the full purchase of the tobacco crop within the specified dates.
GPI Company was tasked with setting up a purchase centre in Orvakal for SCAP (Siri Tobacco) and to facilitate tobacco purchases. Representatives from ITC, GPI, VST, Alliance, Deccan Tobacco, SST, PTP Ltd, and other companies were also instructed to purchase the entire tobacco crop, ensuring fair treatment for farmers by purchasing beedi tobacco and natural tobacco.
