Tirupati will be developed as a national tourism model by promoting spiritual, eco, wellness, MICE and other tourism segments.
Tirupati district will be developed as a national tourism model by leveraging its spiritual, eco, beach, agriculture, wellness, education, science, MICE and wedding tourism potential, Joint Collector R. Govindarao said.
Speaking at a World Tourism Day programme at Shilparamam here on Sunday, he said an integrated roadmap was being prepared to transform Tirupati into a global tourism destination, with Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies being used to offer new experiences.
The administration aims to increase tourists’ average stay from around 18 hours to two or three days through attractive packages and tourism circuits.
Tirupati receives around 80,000–90,000 pilgrims and tourists daily on normal days. The Centre has proposed ₹500 crore for tourism development in Tirupati. Projects by hotel chains including Oberoi, Radisson and Marriott are also planned.
