TIRUPATI: A grand Rathotsavam on Thursday marked the penultimate day of the ongoing annual Brahmotsavams at Lord Kodandarama Swamy Temple in Tirupati, with people lining the four mada streets of the temple having the darshan of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita and Lakshmana Utsava Murthis.

Located in the heart of Tirupati, the Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple is one of the historic shrines administered by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). On the eighth day of the ongoing Brahmotsavams, thousands of devotees participated in the Rathotsavam chariot festival. They enthusiastically pulled the giant ropes of the massive wooden chariot, which glided majestically along the crowded thoroughfares encircling the temple complex.

Tirupati police made elaborate arrangements in coordination with the vigilance and security department of TTD. This ensured that the chariot procession proceeded smoothly without any untoward incidents. The devotional and cultural performances by various troupes and bhajans further elevated the spiritual ambience of the hour-long Rathotsavam.

Later in the afternoon, temple priests conducted Snapana Tirumanjanam and Asthanam within the temple premises. In the evening, Lord Kodandarama Swamy took a celestial ride on the Aswa Vahanam.

The Brahmotsavams will conclude on Friday with the Chakra Snana Mahotsavam at the Ramachandra Pushkarini, followed by various temple rituals and Dhwaja Avarohanam at night.
