Tiger Sighted in Suburbs of Rajamahendravaram Causing Concern to Local Residents, Motorists
The minister advised the people to be cautious and not to go to the farms alone
Vijayawada: The young male tiger has been sighted in the suburbs of Rajamahendravaram in Diwan Cheruvu, Housing Board Colony and also in parts of Rajanagaram mandal in East Godavari on Tuesday night, causing concern to the local residents and motorists on the national highway.
Motorists captured the sighting of the tiger in a video clip at Diwan Cheruvu and it is going viral on social media platforms.
Though the tiger was sighted at Torredu and in parts of Sitanagaram mandal in the last two days, it moved towards the Rajanagaram reserve forest area.
Meanwhile, the forest authorities have been tracking the tiger by using drones, camera traps and also planning to trap it in a cage.
Minister for tourism and culture Kandula Durgesh took stock of the development with regard to the tiger moving in and around Rajamahendravaram and directed the forest officials to take all necessary measures by alerting the people, displaying caution boards and carrying out tom-tom to ensure safety to the people.
Moreover, the minister advised the people to be cautious and not to go to the farms alone. He also asked the farmers to keep a watch on their cattle sheds especially at night by arranging more lights to drive away the tiger to reach and kill the cattle. The minister noted that they were according top priority for the safety of the people.
