Three Youths Go Missing In Godavari
According to Achanta police, five youths went to River Godavari near Ravillanka, a hamlet under Ayodhyalanka panchayat in Achanta mandal of West Godavari district, for taking a bath and swimming.
Kakinada:Three youths from Nagullanka village of P.Gannavaram mandal of Dr B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district went missing in River Godavari on Tuesday evening.
According to Achanta police, five youths went to River Godavari near Ravillanka, a hamlet under Ayodhyalanka panchayat in Achanta mandal of West Godavari district, for taking a bath and swimming. When the youths stepped into the river, they reportedly got drawn towards the depths of pits formed due to the excavation of sand and drowned. Two of them managed to reach the shore by swimming while the remaining gone untraced.
Revenue and police are searching for the three missing youths - Sanaboyina Surya Teja, 12, Neethipudi Pawan Kumar, 15, and Ketha Praveen, 16.
On knowing the information, former minister and Achanta MLA Pithani Satyanarayana has instructed the mandal tahsildar Kankaraju to expedite search operations and rescue the youths. Expert swimmers were deployed and searching for the youths.
Achanta sub-inspector Venkata Ramana and tahsildar Kankaraju are overseeing the rescue operations.
