Three-Year-Old Tiger Found Dead In Giddalur Forest

Nellore: A three-year-old male tiger was found dead inside the forest in the Turimella Range of Giddalur Division on Monday night, prompting forest officials to secure the spot and conduct a detailed examination.
The carcass was spotted by forest staff during routine patrolling at around 8 p.m. on September 7. Following the prescribed National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) Standard Operating Procedure, the site was immediately secured.
A post-mortem examination was conducted as per NTCA guidelines. According to the Forest Department, all body parts of the tiger, including its claws, were intact, ruling out any apparent indication of poaching or removal of body parts.
The forest department attributed the death to natural causes resulting from infighting between tigers, according to an official statement issued by Nisha Kumari, Deputy Director, Project Tiger, Giddalur.
The incident highlights the territorial conflicts that can occur among tigers, particularly young males seeking to establish or defend their ranges. Forest officials documented the incident and followed the prescribed protocols while handling the carcass and conducting the post-mortem examination.
