Three Killed in Nandyal Road Accident

One-person sustained injuries and underwent treatment at Kurnool Government General Hospital.

 Kurnool: Three people from Karnataka died in a road accident on National Highway 44 near Simantalagutta, close to Pododdi village in Peapully mandal of Nandyal district, on Monday. The mishap occurred when their car overturned while trying to avoid a dog on the road.

The deceased were identified as KB Lokesh, 38, KM Naveen, 43, and Santhosh, 37, all from Kenkere town in Tumkur district of Karnataka. According to Peapully sub-inspector B. Madhusudhan, three others—Shivanand, Darshan, and Vardhin—sustained minor injuries and were shifted to Kurnool Government General Hospital for treatment.

Police said that the six-member group had visited the Srisailam and Mahanandi temples and were returning home in the early hours of Monday when the accident occurred. The car, reportedly moving at high speed, overturned after the driver swerved to avoid hitting a dog, leading to the deaths of three passengers, including driver K.B. Lokesh. Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.

Transport minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy expressed deep grief over the incident and directed officials to ensure the injured receive proper medical care. Roads and buildings minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy also conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and called for appropriate safety measures.
