Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh is experiencing a sharp rise in temperatures after days of continuous rainfall, with Tirupati recording the highest temperature at 38°C on Monday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) data shows several districts across the state registering temperatures rising 1-2 degrees, reaching above 35°C.

Kadappa followed closely behind Tirupati with 37.1°C, Nellore (37.3°C), Ongole (36.3°C), Bapatla (36.2°C), Kakinada (33.3°C), Visakhapatnam (33.2°C), Narsapur (34.8°C), and Tuni (32.3°C).

According to the IMD report, a low-pressure area that was previously positioned over Gangetic West Bengal has now moved to southwest Gangetic West Bengal and its neighbourhood.

The meteorological department has identified a trough running from south Rajasthan to the cyclonic circulation over southwest Gangetic West Bengal, passing through central Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh, and south Jharkhand.

This trough exists between 3.1 and 7.6 kilometres above mean sea level, tilting southwards with height. Lower tropospheric westerly winds are currently prevailing over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

The IMD predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places across North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) for the next five days.

Additionally, strong winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph are expected at isolated locations over NCAP, Yanam, SCAP, and the Rayalaseema region during the forecast period.
