Cheepurupalli DSP Raghavulu said the teenaged Class 10 student had been allegedly upset over the strict discipline imposed by his mother
Police have arrested a Class 10 student and his friend after finding the student’s mother murdered in Rajam town of Vizianagaram district on May 4.
Soon after the incident, the victim’s son and his friend had gone missing, prompting an intensive investigation to locate them. Using CCTV footage and technical evidence, police traced the duo in Tirupati and arrested them.
Addressing media on Friday, Cheepurupalli DSP Raghavulu said the teenaged Class 10 student had been allegedly upset over the strict discipline imposed by his mother. Police said she had become more restrictive after learning that her son had written a love letter to a girl studying at his school.
During the period, the boy reportedly became friends with an intermediate student he met at a cricket ground. Investigators said the two frequently discussed their personal and family issues.
According to police, the Class 10 student allegedly expressed his intention to kill his mother, while the other youth encouraged him and suggested that they later run away together.
Police said the accused planned the murder in advance. They hid inside the house. As soon as the Class 10 student’s mother entered the room, the duo allegedly attacked and strangled her. After noticing feeble movements in her body, they brought knives from the kitchen and stabbed her.
After the murder, the two dumped the body in a pond behind the house. They picked up five tolas of gold ornaments, cash, and a mobile phone from the house before fleeing.
Police have recovered the stolen ornaments from the accused.
