Teaching Profession Is A Responsibility, Social Service: Collectors

NELLORE/ONGOLE/TIRUPATI/CHITTOOR: Teaching is a responsibility and a form of social service rather than merely a job, collectors of Nellore, Prakasam, Tirupati and Chittoor districts said at Teachers’ Day celebrations held across the districts on Saturday.

Nellore collector Himanshu Shukla said teachers played a crucial role in shaping the future of students and society. He said a good teacher could transform not only a student’s life but also the future of a family, society and the nation. He urged teachers to identify and nurture individual talents while adapting to digital education and emerging technologies without losing the human touch.

Prakasam collector P. Rajababu said teachers were guides who turned ideas into action and played a vital role in the overall development of individuals. He attributed the district’s fourth position in the recent Class X examinations to focused teaching and urged teachers to work with greater commitment.

Tirupati collector Dr S. Venkateswar highlighted the state government’s education reforms, including rationalisation of teacher deployment, parent-teacher meetings and initiatives to encourage academic and extracurricular excellence. He stressed that every child should attend school and receive quality education.

Chittoor collector Sumit Kumar said teaching was a powerful force capable of transforming society. He urged teachers to impart values, discipline and social responsibility along with academic knowledge and serve as role models for students.

MLCs, MPs and other public representatives also stressed the need for value-based education and greater focus on students’ overall development.

As part of the celebrations, 58 best teachers were honoured in Nellore, 72 in Prakasam, 65 in Tirupati and 74 in Chittoor with awards, mementoes and certificates in recognition of their services.
