For the TDP, the win is a breakthrough in an area where the YSRCP has long dominated.
YSR Kadapa: In a major loss to the opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has won Pulivendula Municipality for the first time, taking a seat long seen as the stronghold of former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Reported results say the TDP-led alliance candidate, Geetha Kumari, beat YSRCP’s Y.S. Pramila by about 14,000 votes.
TDP candidate T Geeta Kumari defeated YSRCP candidate YS Prameelamma ( YS Jagan's aunt) with a majority of 13,898 votes. Out of the 40 wards in Pulivendula, TDP won 34, BJP 2, Janasena 1, and YSRCP 3.
