Vijayawada: A delegation from TD, led by its state president Palla Srinivasa Rao, urged the Central Election Commission (CEC) to utilise Artificial Intelligence (AI) to eliminate duplicate voters during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

As the CEC sought inputs from political parties regarding the SIR, the TD attended an all-party meeting held in New Delhi on Tuesday. Rao welcomed the CEC’s decision to acept 11 types of identity proofs for voters instead of limiting it to the Aadhaar card. He also called for the allocation of unique door number for each voter to prevent data theft and create a distinct voter identity.

He urged the CEC to implement fair and transparent policies to avoid any injustice to voters and requested the draft electoral rolls be made available to all political parties. He called for the implementation of Supreme Court guidelines to safeguard the voting right of every citizen and suggested enhancing the incentive to `250 per head for booth-level officers.
