TD Leaders Grabbing Lands Allotted to STs: Kakani
He claimed TDP leaders removed layout stones, drove beneficiaries away and began cultivating the lands
Nellore: YSRC Nellore district president and former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy on Sunday accused TD leaders of illegally occupying lands allotted to tribal and poor families during the previous YSRC government.
After visiting beneficiaries at Brahmadevunipalem village in Sarvepalli constituency, Kakani alleged that house site pattas distributed to ST families were being forcibly taken over after the coalition government came to power. He claimed TDP leaders removed layout stones, drove beneficiaries away and began cultivating the lands.
Kakani said the previous YSRC government had developed layouts on government land and distributed 137 house plots in Brahmadevunipalem, including 36 for tribal families. Of the 74 sanctioned houses, 54 had been completed and occupied, while 20 were under construction.
He alleged that housing works had come to a standstill under the present government, leaving many poor families without shelter. He said the layouts, located near the Nellore–Krishnapatnam Port highway, reflected former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s commitment towards housing for the poor.
Kakani also alleged that tribal and poor beneficiaries were facing harassment from ruling party leaders.
