TD Complains To SEC Over Alleged Voter Inducements In Two Municipalities
In Nandikotkur municipality of Nandyal district, the TD leaders sought an inquiry into an audio clip allegedly related to the distribution of money to voters in the 11th ward.
Vijayawada:The Telugu Desam (TD) has lodged a complaint with the State Election Commission alleging voter inducements and electoral irregularities in the Chimakurthy and Nandikotkur municipalities. It has sought an inquiry into the alleged distribution of cash and other incentives to influence voters.
TD state general secretary Parchuri Ashok Babu and AP education and welfare infrastructure development corporation chairman Kuppam Rajasekhar submitted a representation to the SEC on Saturday, bringing two incidents to its notice.
In Nandikotkur municipality of Nandyal district, the TD leaders sought an inquiry into an audio clip allegedly related to the distribution of money to voters in the 11th ward. According to the complaint, the conversation suggests that voters were promised Rs 2,000 for each vote in favour of the YSRC's fan symbol, with Rs 8,000 offered for four votes.
The audio reportedly mentions Fatima Bee as the chairperson candidate and Naik as the councillor candidate. It also refers to the distribution of five-kg rice packets and bags of sweets to voters, allegedly for the third time. The conversation further mentions that Siddharth Reddy had visited the area and made a similar appeal.
In another complaint concerning the 23rd ward of Chimakurthy municipality, the TD leaders alleged that cash was being distributed to voters. They said Chimakurthy Inspector of Police Dasari Prasad had identified candidate Subramanyam and Suresh Reddy, who was accompanying him, taken them into custody and seized the cash found with them.
The TD leaders urged the SEC to take action against those allegedly attempting to influence voters through cash and other inducements and ensure free and fair elections.
