TD AP Chief Palla Srinivasa Rao Seeks Arms Act Action over YSRC Rallies
Alleging that the YSRC was seeking to create instability through provocative demonstrations, the TD leader called for firm, uncompromising action against anyone taking the law into their own hands. He asserted that the public had rejected politics rooted in fear and intimidation and would continue to support stability and development.
Vijayawada: Telugu Desam state president and MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao on Thursday accused the YSRC of fostering a “culture of intimidation” and demanded strict action under the Arms Act against those allegedly involved in publicly brandishing weapons.
Reacting to reports that YSRC supporters took out processions carrying sharp weapons, including hunting sickles, to mark the birthday of former chief minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Srinivasa Rao termed the acts unlawful and disturbing. Such displays, he said, were intended to instil fear and had no place in a democracy.
He warned that such incidents could hurt public safety, investor confidence and job creation, and contrasted them with the development-focused approach of the present government led by N. Chandrababu Naidu. Andhra Pradesh, he said, was regaining investor interest through emphasis on industry, IT and infrastructure.
