TIRUPATI: A 14-member business team from Taiwan, led by Max Lin, executive director of Pou Chen Group, the world’s largest maker of branded sports and casual footwear, visited Sri City in Tirupati district on Saturday to explore investment options in Andhra Pradesh.
On behalf of the state government, the delegation was welcomed by Vikas Marmat, project director of the Kuppam Area Development Authority, and R. Shivasankar, senior vice president (marketing) at Sri City. Shivasankar gave a presentation on Sri City’s advantages, including its location, industrial diversity, infrastructure, and investor-friendly policies. He also mentioned existing Taiwanese investments, such as Rechi Precision Co. Ltd., a joint venture with Daikin.
Dr N. Yuvaraj, secretary, industries and commerce department, joined the meeting virtually. Officials from the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) and Invest India discussed with the delegates the benefits of doing business in Andhra Pradesh, especially in the Sri City–Kuppam industrial corridor.
The focus of the visit was on the non-leather footwear sector, as most of the delegates are suppliers to Pou Chen Group. The team showed strong interest in the state’s industrial policies and Sri City’s setup. “We are delighted to visit Andhra Pradesh and impressed with the well-planned development here”, said Max Lin. The team toured Sri City’s facilities to assess its business potential firsthand.
