SW Monsoon Advances Further into Bay of Bengal

The well-marked low-pressure area over southwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal lay as a low pressure area over the same region at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Visakhapatnam: The southwest (SW) monsoon has advanced into some parts of southeast Arabian Sea, southwest and southeast Bay of Bengal, many parts of the Andaman Sea, entire Nicobar Islands and some parts of Andaman Islands, including Sri Vijaya Puram on Saturday.

An IMD, Amaravati, report said conditions are favourable for further advancement of southwest monsoon into some more parts of southeast Arabian Sea, southwest, and southeast Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of Andaman Islands and Andaman Sea, and some parts of east central Bay of Bengal during next three to four days.

The well-marked low-pressure area over southwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal lay as a low pressure area over the same region at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. The associated cyclonic circulation extended up to 4.5 km above mean sea level, tilting southwest-wards with height.

The upper air cyclonic circulation over north coastal Tamil Nadu and neighbourhood has merged with this system.
