In a deeply emotional account, Kamakshi, the wife of terror attack victim Madhusudhan Rao, while speaking to media persons at Kavali on Thursday, recounted the horrifying moments leading to her husband’s death at the hands of armed militants.

Holding back tears and with a choking voice, Kamakshi recalled how she and her husband lay silently on the floor, holding each other’s hands, as gunshots rang out around them.
“We didn’t move… We stayed quiet when they asked whether we are Hindus or Muslims,” she reminisced. “But moments later, I heard a gunshot nearby and suddenly felt my dress turn wet. That’s when I realised they had shot my husband,” Kamakshi said, breaking down.
She said she then got up and ran determined to get help and save her husband, despite knowing the risk she faced. “I knew they might shoot me too. But I couldn’t just stay there,” she said, acknowledging that her desperate attempt went in vain.
Kamakshi dismissed rumours circulating that 46 bullets had been fired into her husband. She called them unfounded. But she said she had been visibly shaken by another chilling moment she witnessed. “They shot a dead man again… even after his wife begged for his life, showing them their two-year-old child,” Kamakshi stated. She said she pleaded with the terrorists to kill her too. “One of them coldly replied, ‘Modi ko bolo (Tell Modi),’” she recalled in disquiet.
Kamakshi added that her children had managed to escape after spotting the attackers, narrowly escaping becoming the victims of violence.
