Suchitra Ella Takes Charge As AP Handloom Advisor
Bharat Biotech co-founder to guide modernization and global positioning of Andhra’s traditional industries
Vijayawada: Suchitra Ella, co-founder and managing director of Bharat Biotech, assumed charge as the honorary advisor for handlooms & handicrafts development to the Andhra Pradesh government, with Cabinet rank for two years. The oath ceremony was held in Vijayawada on Friday. In this role, Suchitra will provide strategic guidance to modernise and globally position the state’s handloom and handicrafts sector, supporting artisan livelihoods and promoting economic growth through traditional industries. She expressed gratitude to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for the opportunity and outlined her vision to elevate the sector, known for its skilled artisans and traditional techniques. On her first day, she visited APCO and Lepakshi, interacted with employees, and reviewed local weaves and handicrafts. Commissioner of Handlooms and Textiles, Rekha Rani, accompanied her and presented an overview of the sector. Suchitra’s focus areas include global market repositioning, design innovation, sustainable livelihoods, and cluster-level growth of handloom units across Andhra Pradesh.
