Vijayawada:A state-level round table conference on ‘annual survey of industries with business associations’ was held here on Tuesday, when concerns of the business associations in filing the ASI returns were addressed.

The NSO-FOD under the central ministry of statistics and programme implementation has been conducting Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) from the year 1960.
Deputy director general of national statistical office, Vijayawada, said the annual survey was the principal source of industrial statistics in the country, and it provided statistical indicators to assess and evaluate the changes in the growth of the organised manufacturing sector, comprising activities related to the manufacturing process, repair services, gas and water supply and cold storage.
The ASI data is one of the parameters used in the estimation of the Gross Domestic Product of the central and state, gross value addition, net value addition, income through the manufacturing sector, employment status in the manufacturing sector, GVA per worker etc.
The pooled ASI data helps in framing the industrial policy and in identifying the areas requiring a volume of investments for improvement in the industrial sector of the economy.
