State Committed to Power Sector Reforms and Welfare: Minister Gottipati
At a review meeting held at the camp office of Badvel TD in-charge Ritesh Reddy, the minister assessed the progress of RDSS works in Kadapa district.
Anantapur: Energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar has firmly reiterated that the state government has no intention of increasing electricity tariffs, underlining the Telugu Desam-led coalition’s commitment to protecting public interests. He criticised the previous YSRC government for burdening the power sector with debts amounting to over ₹1.30 lakh crore during its five-year tenure.
At a review meeting held at the camp office of Badvel TD in-charge Ritesh Reddy, the minister assessed the progress of RDSS works in Kadapa district. Discussions included construction of new substations, agricultural power connections, and transformer distribution. He directed officials to ensure uninterrupted, high-quality power supply—nine-hour daytime electricity for farmers and 24-hour supply for households and industries.
As part of the Suparipalanalo Tholiadugu programme in Balayapalli, Badvel, Minister Ravi Kumar conducted door-to-door visits to explain government welfare schemes to the public.
Highlighting achievements since 2014, he said that the government has added 7,000 MW of solar power capacity, while the previous regime failed to generate even a single megawatt. He emphasised the promotion of large-scale green energy projects, especially in the Rayalaseema region, to create employment opportunities. He urged the public to utilise central schemes like PM Suryaghar and PM Kusum.
He further cited the fulfilment of key manifesto promises, such as the Deepam scheme providing three free gas cylinders, and the recent disbursement of ₹10,000 crore in a single day under the Thalliki Vandanam scheme. He added that the free bus travel scheme for women will begin on August 15 and that farmers will shortly receive ₹20,000 under the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme.
