ANANTAPUR: The Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL) has launched a unique cycling expedition titled S.A.I.cling 4 S.A.I., commemorating the 100th of its founder chancellor Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The initiative promotes the core values of Sustainability (S), Awareness (A), and Inclusivity (I).
Flagged off by vice-chancellor Prof B. Raghavendra Prasad from SSSIHL’s Brindavan Campus at Kadugodi, Bengaluru, the expedition features 150 cyclists including students, alumni, and staff members covering 161 km to Prasanthi Nilayam in Sri Sathya Sai district. The cyclists are expected to reach the Sri Sathya Sai Hill View Stadium at Prasanthi Nilayam by the evening of November 13.
“Through S.A.I.cling 4 S.A.I., we reaffirm our commitment to sustainability and holistic education, where physical fitness, environmental consciousness, and community service unite as a tribute to our founder chancellor,” the vice-chancellor said.
The expedition aims to promote eco-friendly transport, reduce carbon footprint, and encourage sustainable living. Along the route, participants will plant trees at identified locations to increase green cover and promote biodiversity. As part of a waste management drive, they will also collect about 100 kg of waste to raise awareness on environmental responsibility and cleanliness.
According to the organisers, the initiative reflects SSSIHL’s commitment to translating its core values Love, Service, and Transformation into action, contributing to societal and environmental well-being.
SSSIHL registrar Dr Srikanth Khanna, Brindavan Ashram convener Vinay Kumar, SSSIHMS director Dr D.C. Sundaresh, campus directors, deans, wardens, and faculty members were present at the flag-off ceremony.
