Sribharat Hails Coalition Govt, Lists Key Projects For Vizag
Sribharat said the government was pursuing large-scale data centre investments to position Visakhapatnam as a major IT hub and create employment opportunities
Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat on Friday highlighted a series of major infrastructure and development projects being taken up in the city, saying they would strengthen connectivity, improve civic amenities and generate employment.
Addressing a programme at the Andhra University Convention Hall to mark two years of the NDA coalition government in Andhra Pradesh and the BJP's “12 Years of Vishwas, Vikas and Jan Kalyan” campaign, attended by senior TD and BJP leaders and local representatives, Sribharat hailed the coalition government's governance and development agenda and highlighted several infrastructure projects aimed at transforming Visakhapatnam. He said the city had secured three major national projects, including the South Coast Railway Zone, recently reorganised into the Visakhapatnam Division through a Gazette notification.
He also highlighted the ongoing construction of the Bhogapuram International Airport and the implementation of a Smart Traffic Management System to improve urban mobility.
The MP said flood mitigation and coastal protection remained key priorities. He noted that the Centre had sanctioned `200 crore for the purpose, while a proposal for an additional `200 crore had been submitted through the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA).
He said a `1,500-crore project under the Urban Challenge Fund would provide 24x7 drinking water supply and underground drainage facilities from Madhurawada to Bheemili. In addition, sewage treatment plants worth `330 crore are being constructed to curb marine pollution along RK Beach and Rushikonda.
Sribharat said the government was pursuing large-scale data centre investments to position Visakhapatnam as a major IT hub and create employment opportunities. He also defended the recruitment of 16,000 teachers and clarified that the International Yoga Day celebrations, expected to attract nearly three lakh participants, would cost about `20 lakh.
He urged coalition leaders and party workers to effectively communicate the government's welfare and development initiatives and counter misinformation.
