Somireddy Assures Special Focus on Krishnapatnam Temples’ Development
Congratulating the chairman and committee members, Somireddy expressed confidence that the temples would witness further growth and that devotees would receive improved services under their leadership
Nellore: Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Sunday said special focus has always been given to the development of the Krishnapatnam temples and that sustained efforts are being made to protect temple assets and improve facilities for devotees.
He was speaking after administering the oath of office to Mamidala Srinivasulu as chairman of the Sri Kamakshi Sametha Sri Siddheswara Swamy Temple and Sri Venugopala Swamy Devasthanams at Krishnapatnam, along with the newly appointed governing body members.
Congratulating the chairman and committee members, Somireddy expressed confidence that the temples would witness further growth and that devotees would receive improved services under their leadership.
Addressing the media, the mla said he has taken a keen interest in the development of the Krishnapatnam temples from the beginning. He recalled that during the Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy government, he fought to increase land acquisition compensation from Rs 3 lakh per acre to between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 7.75 lakh per acre. He added that compensation for about 500 acres belonging to the temples was also secured at 7.50 lakh per acre instead of the initially proposed amount.
Somireddy said the temples have significantly benefited the village and its people. He also stated that when an earlier government attempted to divert `23 crore from temple deposits to the Common Good Fund, he intervened and ensured the amount was returned.
At present, the Krishnapatnam temples have bank deposits exceeding 60 crore and gold deposits of around 53 kg. He said tenders have been called for five development works costing Rs 2.50 crore and added that steps are being taken to allocate government land in Muthukur for the construction of a kalyana mandapam for the temples.
Earlier, speaking at Krishnapatnam, Somireddy announced that 11.45 crore has been sanctioned for road construction works in the Sarvepalli constituency. He said Rs 2.16 crore has been approved for rebuilding the badly damaged Muthukur–Mamidipudi road, while five roads covering a total length of 21 km will be taken up under the project.
The mla also said the Adani Foundation is operating a skill development centre at Krishnapatnam and is undertaking development works worth Rs 5 crore in the area.
