Sloth Bear Rescued From Fence

Kakinada:Kakinada forest officials, assisted by HANUMAN (Healing and Nurturing Units for Monitoring Aid and Nursing of Wildlife), Vajra Teams and a tranquilliser team, rescued an adult sloth bear that had become entangled in a fence at a palm-oil garden in Parimitadaka village of Yeleswaram mandal.

Kakinada district forest officer N. Ramachandra Rao said the teams rushed to the spot after receiving information and safely rescued the bear. After assessing its health, they shifted it to the Visakhapatnam zoo.

He said forest conservators closely monitored the bear and advised officials on its care. The animal will be kept under observation at the Visakhapatnam zoo for two or three days before being released into the forest, officials said.
