Singapore Backs Amaravati, Studies AP’s Digital Governance
Delegations discuss smart cities, infrastructure and technology-driven public services.
Vijayawada: Singapore has reaffirmed its support for the development of Amaravati while expressing interest in Andhra Pradesh's technology-driven governance model during a series of high-level meetings held on Tuesday.
Municipal administration and urban development minister Ponguru Narayana held discussions with a Singapore delegation led by Francis Chong, senior director in Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry, and representatives of the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise on strengthening cooperation in urban planning, infrastructure, smart city development and institutional capacity building.
The delegation conveyed Singapore's willingness to provide technical expertise, strategic advisory support, professional training and knowledge-sharing to help develop Amaravati as a world-class capital. It also offered assistance in project planning, quality standards, advanced technologies and sustainable urban infrastructure.
Welcoming the proposal, Narayana discussed long-term collaboration between the Andhra Pradesh government and Singapore agencies to facilitate key projects in the capital region. Both sides explored opportunities for technical partnerships, expert consultations and the exchange of best practices.
Later, another Singapore delegation led by Tan Eng Pheng, assistant chief executive of the Singapore government's technology division, visited the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) Command and Control Centre at the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat to study the state's digital governance model.
RTGS officials showcased platforms such as the Data Lake and Data Lens, highlighting their role in evidence-based decision-making and efficient public service delivery. The visitors also shared Singapore's experience in using digital technologies to improve governance and citizen services.
Singapore Cooperation Enterprise chief executive Tay Lian Chee, principal secretary Suresh Kumar, APCRDA commissioner Vijayarama Raju, RTGS CEO Prakhar Jain, Deputy CEO M. Madhuri and senior officials were present.
