SI Unfurls National Flag Atop Mount Elbrus

Kakinada: Eluru Rural Sub-Inspector V. Venkateswara Rao achieved a rare feat by scaling Mount Elbrus, standing at 5,642 metres in Russia’s Caucasus mountain range, and unfurling a 100-metre-long Tricolour to mark the 80th Independence Day.

Rao undertook the challenging expedition despite adverse weather, extreme cold and high-altitude conditions. At the summit, he unfurled the National Flag and sang the National Anthem. He dedicated the achievement to police martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country.

Officials commended Rao’s feat, saying it reflected patriotism, courage, discipline and determination and would inspire the youth to pursue their goals.

Venkateswara Rao, a native of Kesara village in Krishna district, joined the police service seven years ago and served at Ganapavaram, Kalidindi and other police stations. He is currently posted at Eluru Rural Police Station.

Circle Inspector V. Ramakrishna congratulated Rao on the achievement and expressed the hope that he would accomplish many more such feats.
