NELLORE: Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla AC has urged graduating students of IIT Tirupati to keep learning, recognise the right opportunities, embrace change and step out of their comfort zones as they begin their professional journeys.

Speaking at the institute’s eighth convocation on Saturday, Shukla said the graduates were entering an exciting phase of their lives as IIT Tirupati continued to expand. Drawing on his experiences in astronaut training and space exploration, he stressed the need to remain adaptable and prepared for uncertainty.

He said change and uncertainty would be part of their professional journeys and encouraged the graduates to develop a broader perspective while pursuing their goals.

IIT Tirupati Board of Governors chairman and JSW Group head Sajjan Jindal, who joined the convocation virtually, urged the graduates to use their knowledge, technical skills and experience to address challenges and contribute to India’s development. He said the country’s transformation would require engineering excellence, entrepreneurship, innovation and the ability to develop solutions at scale.

IIT Tirupati director Prof. K.N. Satyanarayana highlighted the institute’s focus on excellence in education, research and innovation and urged graduates to uphold ethical standards and use their knowledge for human welfare and sustainable development.

A total of 457 degrees were awarded across various programmes, including 220 BTech, 125 MTech, 43 MSc, 15 Master of Public Policy, eight MS (Research) and 37 PhD degrees, besides dual degrees, diplomas and BSc programmes. Eighteen students received medals and prizes for academic and extracurricular achievements.

T. Mokshith Reddy of the Computer Science department received the President’s Prize for the best academic performance among the 2026 BTech graduates, while Subham Mohanty received the Governor’s Prize for all-round excellence in academics and extracurricular activities.
