SC hears AP’s illegal sand mining case

The court directed the AP government to submit an affidavit with details of steps initiated after stopping illegal sand mining and also the measures taken in the recent past

Vijayawada: Supreme Court heard the case related to illegal sand mining during the previous YSR Congress regime.

A division bench comprising Justice Abhay S. Oka and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan heard the matter in New Delhi on Friday and posted the next hearing to April 7.

During the course of the hearing, Jaya Prakash Ventures’ counsel submitted to the apex court that all illegal sand mining activities have now stopped.

The court directed the AP government to submit an affidavit with details of steps initiated after stopping illegal sand mining and also the measures taken in the recent past.

The Supreme Court further sought an affidavit with details of observations made by MoEF and the action taken report.
