Sana Satish Targets 1,000 Jobs, 100 Entrepreneurs Annually
Rajya Sabha member Sana Satish says a new Kakinada skill hub will train local youth, target 1,000 jobs and support 100 new entrepreneurs every year.
Rajya Sabha member Sana Satish has said the Skill, Start-up and Bharat Hub would target providing jobs to 1,000 unemployed youths and creating 100 entrepreneurs every year.
He said the Skill, Start-up and Bharat Hub was being established to provide local skill training to youth in Kakinada district and create employment and self-employment opportunities.
Sana Satish, along with Kakinada district collector Harendhira Prasad, Kakinada Urban MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao, Kakinada Rural MLA Pantham Venkateswara Rao (Nanaji), Prathipadu MLA Varupula Satya Prabha, Peddapuram MLA Nimmakayala China Rajappa, DCCB chairman Tummala Ramaswamy and MLCs Rajasekhar and Karri Padmasri, jointly laid the foundation stone for the Skill Development Centre at the ITI grounds here on Monday.
The work on the centre is being taken up at a cost of `5.30 crore under MP-LADS.
Satish said a survey conducted three years ago under the special initiative for Kakinada district involved distributing questionnaires to every household and student. About 80 per cent of respondents emphasised the need to focus on employment and livelihood issues.
Hence, decided to prioritise the sector after being elected to the Rajya Sabha. He thanked local MLAs for encouraging him to undertake the initiative.
The hub aims to provide skill training, incubation and skill development services, in line with the chief minister’s vision of One Home-One Entrepreneur. The MP described it as a hybrid-model centre incorporating elements of the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub.
The project is being implemented at an estimated cost of `15-20 crore. The first phase involves the skill centre, while the second phase would provide hostel facilities for students from distant areas such as Tuni and Konaseema.
Discussions had been held with representatives of local industries, including Divis Pharma, Aurobindo Pharma, AM Green and Coromandel Fertilisers, to train youths in industry-specific skills and establish agreements to facilitate direct employment, the MP said.
The hub is coming up on a two-acre plot allocated by the government on the Government ITI campus. Additionally, a National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Centre is also being established as part of the ITI revitalisation initiative envisioned by education minister Nara Lokesh.
Sana Satish said nearly 20,000 students graduated from various courses in Kakinada district annually. The skill centre would have facilities including a digital library, mentorship services and a dedicated counter to facilitate access to government schemes.
