Salur TD leader Vaikuntapu Harshavardhan was left disappointed as his marriage, performed in a hurry, failed to realise his dream of securing the municipal chairman post in Parvatipuram Manyam district.

With the local body polls round the corner, several leaders aspiring for tickets are putting in the best of their efforts to secure ticket. The political parties are also trying to finalise the candidates, as the nomination process would end in another three days.

In these anxious moments, the Salur TD leader's political marriage has turned into a hot topic. Harshavardhan aspired for Salur municipal chairman post but after the announcement of reservations, he found it was allocated to BC Women. In a bid to secure the post for his family, he married Gulla Manjeera, with whom he was in a relationship for the last eight years. He thought that his wife would be able to secure the party ticket. Actually, the duo had plans to get married within the next 6 months.

However, his dreams were shattered with seat slipping into the Jana Sena's kitty, as part of seat-sharing pact between the TD and Jana Sena. In 2019, Harshavardhan got elected as TD councilor.
