Recent rains have brought relief to people across Rayalaseema after several weeks of high temperatures and humid conditions. The showers have also revived several seasonal waterfalls, with Saira Waterfalls near Owk in Nandyal district emerging as an attraction.

Nandyal district recorded some of the highest rainfall in Rayalaseema over the past two days. Rains in Owk mandal have transformed the rocky terrain and natural streams around the area, resulting in the revival of the waterfall.

The waterfall, located near Chennampalle village close to Owk, is also known as Saira Waterfalls. Water is now cascading down from a height of around 30 metres, attracting visitors from nearby areas.

The surrounding region is known for its hills, rocky terrain and natural streams. During good rainfall, water flows down the hill slopes and forms seasonal waterfalls at several locations. However, the prolonged dry spell this year had left the waterfalls without sufficient water.

“The waterfall has come alive again after the recent rains. A large number of people are now coming to see the water cascading down the rocks. Visitors, particularly youngsters and families, are spending time here during weekends,” said C. Mahadeva Reddy, a resident of Owk mandal.

He said the location had the potential to emerge as a popular tourist attraction if basic facilities were developed. “Improving the approach roads and providing drinking water, toilets, parking facilities and proper warning boards would make it more convenient and safer for visitors,” he said.

The renewed flow has also drawn attention on social media, with photographs and videos of the waterfall being widely shared. The transformation of the dry landscape into a green and water-filled setting has added to the attraction.
