RTE Second Phase Lottery Allots 10,453 EWS Seats in Private Schools

Vijayawada:The Andhra Pradesh School Education Department on Tuesday released the second-phase lottery results for free admissions under Section 12(1)(C) of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act for the academic year 2026–27.

State project director of Samagra Shiksha, B. Srinivasa Rao, announced that 10,453 seats were allotted to students belonging to economically weaker sections (EWS) in private schools during the second phase of the lottery process.

According to official figures, a total of 54,647 applications were received from across the state, of which 54,016 students were found eligible. In the first phase, 30,075 students residing within a one-kilometre radius of schools secured admissions. The second phase covered eligible students residing between one and five kilometres from the allotted schools.

The department said details of selected candidates have been communicated to parents through SMS and have also been made available on the official website of the School Education Department.

Parents of selected students have been asked to confirm admissions between May 6 and May 17 by visiting the respective schools with all required documents. These include Aadhaar cards of students and parents, income certificate, caste certificate, birth certificate, ration card, Aadhaar details of siblings, and study certificate.

Officials warned that strict departmental action would be initiated against any private school refusing admission without valid reasons. Admissions will be monitored through dedicated district-level logins handled by Additional Project Coordinators under Samagra Shiksha.

Parents can seek assistance through the toll-free helpline 1800 425 8599, while school managements have been advised to coordinate with MEOs, DEOs and regional joint directors for clarification.
