RSASTF Seizes Red Sanders Worth Rs 2.5 crore, Arrests Seven Smugglers

TIRUPATI: The Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) seized 72 red sanders logs, valued at approximately Rs 2.5 crore, in the Srikalahasti forest area of Tirupati district. Seven smugglers were arrested, and a lorry along with a car was also seized during the operation.

Acting on the instructions of RSASTF head L. Subbarayudu and under the supervision of Task Force SP P. Srinivas, the operation was led by DSP G. Balireddy and RSI C. Vinod Kumar along with his team. On Sunday, the team conducted combing operations in the Srikalahasti forest area, inspecting entry and exit points.

During vehicle inspections near Dommarapalle on the Panguru main road in the Katur Forest Beat, the team spotted a car followed by a lorry parked at a short distance. As the police approached, the occupants attempted to flee but were apprehended.

Upon inspection, the lorry was found to be carrying 72 red sanders logs. The arrested individuals included four residents of Tirupati district and three from Tamil Nadu. All seven, along with the seized logs and vehicles, were taken to the Tirupati Task Force Police Station. CI Suresh Kumar registered the case and is leading the investigation.
