VIJAYAWADA: A 57-year-old registered medical practitioner (RMP) was arrested on Sunday on charges of allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in Deviseema village of Avanigadda mandal in Krishna district, police said.
The RMP, who lived next door to the girl, allegedly sexually assaulted her, resulting in her pregnancy. The girl delivered a baby boy at a hospital in Repalle, Bapatla district, on Friday.
Based on a complaint lodged by the girl’s father, police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested the accused.
He was produced before a local court, which remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days.
