Rains Lash North Andhra, More Forecast Till May 7

Visakhapatnam: Heavy rains lashed north Andhra, particularly Srikakulam district, over the past 24 hours, causing disruption in several areas. Reports confirmed the uprooting of trees and electric poles, while rainwater entered homes in Srikakulam rural, Gara, Etcherla, and surrounding regions.

On Saturday, Kakinada recorded the highest rainfall at 5 cm, followed by 3 cm each in Parvathipuram Manyam and Anakapalle, and 2.4 cm in Tuni. Most areas received at least 1 cm of rainfall, bringing slight relief from the heat.

According to the State Disaster Management Authority, districts including Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, ASR, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalle, Kakinada, Konaseema, East and West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, and Palnadu are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Amaravati, forecast thunderstorms with gale-force winds across north and south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema until May 7.
