Rains in Rayalaseema Bring Down Temperature

The authority issued an advisory urging the elderly and children to avoid moving in the hot sun.

Thunderstorms brought down temperature in several places of Rayalaseema on Monday.  Visakhapatnam: Thunderstorms brought down temperature in several places of Rayalaseema on Monday. The highest rainfall was recorded in Atmakur (Anantapur district) at 7.2cm, followed by Guntakal in the same district at 6.8cm, Chenne Kothapalli (Sri Satya Sai district) 5.4 cm, Ramagiri (Sri Satya Sai) 5.1 cm and Kadiri (Sri Satya Sai) 4.9 cm.

Tirupati recorded 39.6 degrees, 4 degrees less than Sunday’s. Cuddapah and Nandyal recorded 40 degrees, down by one degree C. The highest temperature of 41.5 degrees C was recorded in Jangamaheswarapuram (West Godavari district). Visakhapatnam airport and the industrial area of Gajuwaka recorded 36.6 degrees C. Visakhapatnam city recorded 34 degrees.

IMD Amaravati director S Stella said the temperature would gradually increase by two to three degrees from Tuesday.

The state disaster management authority forecast heat wave conditions in 21 mandals of north coastal Andhra for Tuesday and Wednesday. Of them, one mandal is from Srikakulam, eight in Vizianagaram, Anakapalli and Kakinada three each and two in East Godavari.
