There will be countless other idols, with Vizag gaining the reputation for its tall and sweet Ganesh installations.
Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam is preparing for the Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 with creative idols of the Lord once again capturing attention of the city’s people during the 26-day festivities beginning on August 27.
2025 Ganesh Utsav Committee and idol makers are making two remarkable Ganesh idols for the year, one crafted from a lakh (100,000) sarees and another moulded entirely from silver. There will be countless other idols, with Vizag gaining the reputation for its tall and sweet Ganesh installations.
K. Ganesh of the Gajuwaka Utsav Committee said this year, they will construct an idol utilising one lakh sarees in a unique design, with sarees of the unique idol going to community benefit. Maker of the idol Srikanth is from Chirala. He will design the deity in a seated position through a detailed arrangement of 100,000 sarees.
Peerapu Kanaka Raju of another utsav committee, known for record-breaking installations, such as the 2023 Chocolate Ganesha and the 2024 idol made of stones left over after statues of Ayodhya's Ram, Laxman, and Sita had been made, revealed that their Ganesh statue this year will be made of pure silver, installed within a Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD)-themed setup along the beach road.
Local craftsman Ganesh from Peda Waltair mentioned that this year their preparations have started later than usual. They are uncertain about how many idols they will create. But their idols will be 3 feet to 14 feet high, with prices between ₹12,000 and ₹90,000.
Ganesh said last year, they made 180–200 idols. But only 110 got sold. Therefore, this year, they are planning more meticulously.
