NELLORE: Clearing clogged drains, preventing water stagnation, carrying out mosquito-control fogging, and ensuring preparedness for disaster management were among the precautionary measures highlighted by the Nellore district police to minimise the impact of extreme weather conditions and reduce the loss of life and property during the monsoon season.

As part of the state government’s flagship initiative “Swarnandhra–Swachh Andhra”, the district police organised an awareness rally on Saturday on the theme “Prevention of Floods and Infectious Diseases During Monsoon”.

Acting on the directions of additional SP (administration) Ch. Soujanya, the rally was held under the leadership of SB DSP Srinivasa Rao. Police personnel took a pledge and participated in an awareness drive from the District Police Office to the junction.

Across all police stations in the district, Swarnandhra–Swachh Andhra programmes were conducted with awareness drives in schools, villages, and towns. The campaign educated the public on steps to reduce flood risks, avoid mosquito-borne illnesses, and remain vigilant against infectious diseases during the rainy season.

Police officers and staff across the district actively participated in these initiatives. Among those present were SB DSP Srinivasa Rao, SB-2 CI Srinivasa Reddy, RI MT Haribabu, RI Home Guards Paul Raj, Dargamitta CI Roshayya, PCR CI Bhaktavatsala Reddy, SC/ST Cell CI Jaganmohan Rao, several RSIs, and other police officials and staff.
