Siddharth Reddy has been served notices under Section 41A of the CrPC to appear for questioning in connection with a defamation case: Police
KURNOOL: Police on Wednesday questioned YSRC youth wing leader and former SAAP (Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh) chairman Baireddy Siddharth Reddy for nearly three hours at the Kurnool III Town police station.
According to police, Siddharth Reddy has been served notices under Section 41A of the CrPC to appear for questioning in connection with a defamation case. The case stems from allegations he made during a dharna held near the Kurnool Collectorate about a month ago.
At the protest, the YSRC leader accused Industries and Commerce minister T.G. Bharat of allegedly receiving ₹40 crore from a pharma company. Taking strong exception to these remarks, minister Bharat not only filed a defamation suit but also lodged a complaint with the III Town police station. Following the complaint, police initiated an inquiry and summoned Siddharth Reddy for questioning.
After the interrogation, Siddharth Reddy spoke to media and said he stands by his statements against the minister.
“I have answered all the questions posed by police. I will present evidence in support of my allegations at the appropriate time before the court,” he asserted.
