Police Declares AP as Ganja-free Cultivation State

Hyderabad: The Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE) Chief Ake Ravi Krishna on Saturday declared Andhra Pradesh as ganja-free cultivation State.

Speaking after flagging off a drug awareness walkathon in Vijayawada, he said heightened surveillance using drones helped the police in containing the cultivation of ganja completely. He said as many as 96 people were arrested under provisions of NDPS Act across the State last year for cultivating ganja.

These arrests were made in coordination with the Tribal, Revenue and Police departments. Apart from preventing cultivation of ganja, the police organized several programmes to explain to the people the ill-effects of possessing ganja.
