Piquant Situation in Madakasira Municipality As JS Nominee’s Papers Rejected
Wife of TD leader state secretary G. Radhakrishna, whose nomination has been found valid, has appealed to the ruling alliance to treat her as the Jana Sena candidate
Anantapur: The contest for Madakasira municipal chairperson post in Satya Sai district has taken an unexpected turn with rejection of the nomination filed by Jana Sena candidate Avula Srinivasulu, reportedly due to errors in filling the nomination papers.
The returning officer (RO) is said to have rejected the documents filed by even the dummy candidate of Jana Sena.
Just three days ago, following discussions between alliance NDA partners, the Madakasira municipality had been allotted to the Jana Sena Party despite vehement opposition from TD leaders of the municipal region.
Following this, Avula Srinivasulu filed his papers as JS nominee to contest for the post of Madakasira chairperson’s post. But the RO rejected Srinivasulu’s papers on grounds that they have not been filled out properly. Papers of the dummy candidate of Jana Sena for the chairperson’s post have also been rejected.
Interestingly, TD state secretary G. Radhakrishna’s wife has also filed her nomination for the municipal chairperson’s post in Madakasira, claiming to be a Jana Sena nominee. Her nomination has been found valid.
With Avula Srinivasulu’s nomination papers rejected, the legal team of JS has rushed to the State Election Commission to review the papers and approve the Jana Sena leader’s candidature.
In the interim, TD state secretary Radhakrishna’s wife has reportedly appealed to the alliance partners to treat her as the JS nominee for Madakasira chairperson’s post.
The sequence of developments raises questions over the political calculations and strategies being adopted by the ruling alliance partners in the Madakasira municipality.
