TIRUPATI: The Tirumala Tirupati temple witnessed a massive influx of devotees over the long weekend, resulting in an 18-hour wait for Sarva Darshan (free darshan) as of 7 a.m. on Sunday.

According to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), all compartments of the Vaikuntam Queue Complexes were filled to capacity, with the waiting line stretching up to the Krishna Teja Guest House. Despite the extended queues, the pilgrimage continued smoothly with the support of additional staff deployed to manage the crowd.

On Saturday alone, 78,821 devotees had darshan of Lord Venkateswara, while 33,568 pilgrims offered tonsure as part of their spiritual vows. The Srivari Hundi collection for the day touched ₹3.36 crore, reflecting the high footfall at the temple.

TTD officials said arrangements were being constantly reviewed to ensure a seamless experience for pilgrims amid the surge, attributed to the extended weekend.
