KAKINADA: Kakinada collector S. Shan Mohan stated that the social boycott issue at Mallam village in Pithapuram mandal and represented by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, has been sorted out through the formation of a peace committee.

The issue created a flutter in the village following the death of one Suresh Babu who was electrocuted while doing electric work at the house of one Jallibabu recently. This incident prompted a section of the community to protest, demanding compensation to the family of the deceased. Then, the elders of the both groups decided to provide Rs 2.75 lakh to the victim’s family. Meanwhile, a group belonging to the deceased lodged a complaint with Pithapuram Rural police, alleging that one section of people boycotted them socially and they were denied access to hotels and work opportunities in the village. In contrast, the opposing group denied these allegations and decried false cases against them.

To sort out the issue, the Kakinada collector said that a peace committee was formed, consisting of six members in each group. After discussions, the committee on Monday passed a resolution that the social boycott on one section should be lifted and legal action would be taken against those spreading false statements. It emphasised the importance of fostering brotherhood among all villagers.
