Vijayawada: Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan has directed principal secretaries of Forest and Environment, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, and Rural Water Supply to submit a comprehensive report on employees of these departments who are facing ACB and Vigilance cases.

At a meeting on Friday with top officials, he ordered that the report be filed within three weeks.

Pawan Kalyan expressed concern about the slow progress of investigations into the Vigilance and ACB cases. He felt that delays in investigations are hindering opportunities for these employees from receiving promotions and getting post-retirement benefits.

The Deputy CM felt upset that some of the cases related to Vigilance, ACB and other inquiries have been pending for nearly 20 years.

Officials explained to Pawan Kalyan that lack of proper evidence to substantiate the charges against employees at the initial stage are resulting in inordinate delays in resolving these cases.

Suggesting guidelines to expedite the investigation process, the Deputy Chief Minister directed officials to gather strong evidence against corrupt staff during the preliminary investigation itself.

Pawan Kalyan emphasised on the need to prevent close contact between employees and investigating officers during the initial stages of inquiry.

The Deputy CM asked department heads to reinvestigate corruption cases in a proper manner to ensure their swift resolution.
